Articles About Gifts and Incentives

21/12/12 - Christmas 2012 Thank You's

'Tis the season to be jolly. Despite the doom and gloom throughout the year (mainly thanks to Google and it's animal themed algorithm changes) together with the fact that I've been working on Christmas plans since around June (I actually managed to be *very* prepared this year!), I'm feeling particularly festive. That's helped by receiving one or two gifts from kind and generous merchants, networks and fellow affiliates. As they've sent over some affiliate Christmas presents I feel it's only right to say thank you loud and proud! So here goes. More

09/11/12 - More Experience Day Retailer Affiliate Incentives

Christmas is well and truly on its way and following the announcement from Red Letter Days of their Christmas 2012 affiliate incentive where you could win a holiday to Rio in Brazil, a few other experience day retailers have launched their incentives too. More

13/09/12 - Fancy Winning a Holiday to Rio?

Every year for as long as I can remember, Red Letter Days rolls out a killer Christmas affiliate incentive, outshining pretty much any other incentive run this time of year. It's usually topped off with a prize of a holiday to a far and distant land such as Bali or Beijing. Well, it's clear where the inspiration for this year's top prize has come from (think about the handover ceremony during a certain major sporting event hosted in England's capital during the year MMXII - how was that for not mentioning it by name?!). That's right, this year Red Letter Days is paying for someone to visit Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil! More

04/09/12 - A Weekend Cornish Break Courtesy of Red Letter Days

Back in June Red Letter Days ran a set of weekly affiliate incentives to celebrate their 23rd birthday. The incentive was nice and easy - add a banner to your website and be in with a chance. My prize was an Overnight Beer Tasting Break for Two in Cropton, North Yorkshire. Thanks to the fantastic online system RLD use we (wifey and I) were able to exchange this for a couple of nights in Cornwall instead. More

02/03/12 - Thank You DFDS Seaways For Spotify Premium!

DFDS Seaways ran a competition a while back offering one lucky winner to win a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound8 system. Every sale would get an entry into the competition and one lucky winner would scoop the prize. What made this slightly different was that there were 7 weekly prizes of Spotify Premium memberships up for grabs by the affiliate with the highest revenue increase compared to the previous week. 11/01/12 - Christmas Competition Prizes 2011

I was fortunate enough to win a couple of gifts this Christmas and just wanted to take the opportunity to thank the respective companies as these have since been delivered. More

19/12/11 - Christmas 2011 Thank You's

Last year was pretty quiet gift-wise and I expected much of a muchness given that the economy is still dire and everyone is pretty much suffering. However there's been an influx of parcels this week from very generous merchants and networks. I've put together a big thank you post for Christmas 2011 citing anyone one's sent something over. More

19/12/11 - Effective Christmas Card Marketing

I received a Christmas card yesterday from DFDS Seaways which stood out from the crowd. On the face of it the card looks like any other but it is a clever marketing opportunity for several reasons. More

10/10/11 - Thank You DFDS Seaways

It's been a while since I won anything so it was a very pleasant surprise to hear from DFDS Seaways when they drew their competition last week.

Since then, a very posh gold printed Harrods gift card arrived, complete with an equally posh card, ready to spend on whatever I choose. More

13/09/11 - Top Tips For the Red Letter Days Christmas Incentive

It’s no secret I’m both a fan of the Red Letter Day affiliate program and a fan of incentives :-) The Red Letter Day Christmas Incentive 2011 therefore is a marriage made in heaven.

Whilst the sales element of the incentives are based solely on your traffic, conversion rate and content, there are other ways you can gain entries in the main competition as well as the smaller ones. More

13/09/11 - Red Letter Days Christmas Affiliate Incentive 2011

Ah Christmas. It comes but once a year and the gap between each one always seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Emails with the words Christmas and Festive have started to filter through so it’s surely about time that someone launch their Christmas 2011 incentive. Right on cue is Red Letter Days who have got another fantastic incentive this year.

For the past few years Red Letter Days has been offering affiliates a choice of incentives each quarter based on tiered sales figures. Simply hit a tier and claim a prize. This on-going affiliate incentive has even won the company awards and industry praise.

Each year in the fourth quarter, Joshna, Gemma and the RLD team like to push the boat out and offer a flagship prize each Christmas. This year is no exception as they have just announced that the top prize this year is a holiday for two in Beijing! More

07/02/11 - Thanks Red Letter Days

The big Red Letter Days Christmas affiliate incentive was another cracker this (well, last) year. Up for grabs was a once in a lifetime trip for two to South Africa , one of 5 Boutique and a Luxury Escape for Two across the UK.

The draw took place a week ago and Rob Berrisford of CK Net scooped the holiday, as per this video: More

01/02/11 - Thanks Into The Blue

Towards the end of 2010 Into the Blue, an experience day retailer, ran a tiered affiliate incentive. The more sales you generated the bigger the prize.

I crept up a couple of tiers so received a £25 gift voucher not so long ago. More

06/01/11 - Merry Christmas From Affiliate Window

I just discovered there was a Christmas present waiting for me at the local courier delivery office. It's been there for a couple of weeks (oops) so I collected it yesterday to discover it was a Christmas present from Digital Window (now consisting of Affiliate Window and Buy.at). More

16/12/10 - Thank You Paid on Results

Many thanks to Paid on Results for the bottle of Jack Daniels that was delivered yesterday, with a message from the courier saying "this will warm you up"!

I've done a lot more work with Paid on Results this year, having switched a lot of my links from another (nameless) network which has been dogged with payment problems. From the sounds of it I'm not the only one and even merchants have done the same. More

09/12/10 - Christmas Hamper From Red Letter Days

Ooh, my first Christmas present arrived today care of Red Letter Days. It's a festively green hamper full of yummy treats for Christmas.

Yet another reason why the Red Letter Days affiliate program is amazing! More

02/11/10 - The Christmas Incentives Are Back :-D

8 weeks ago (eek) I asked where had all the incentives gone and prayed for some really good offers this year. Then, Red Letter Days goes and launches their great festive incentive offering oodles of gifts and prizes. Step forward 7 weeks and a whole lot more have made their way into my inbox. Here's a few of my favourites. More

14/09/10 - Red Letter Days Launch Their Christmas Incentives

There I was saying how few and far between the incentives have been lately and then Red Letter Days go and launch their set of Christmas promotions!

In a Gadget Show style, they have oodles and oodles of prizes to give away, with the flagship prize being something that they do best - once-in-a-lifetime experiences. More

10/09/10 - Where Have All The Incentives Gone?

Anyone would think we're in a recession! I've not won (or actively partaken I think) in any incentives since April. Understandably everyone seems to be holding back, letting things tick over as they are. I can only imagine it's more difficult trying to convince management that offering a large prize for a boost in sales. Right now, everyone is looking after the pennies and hoping the pounds look after themselves.

Thankfully (?) Christmas is on its way! Christmas is, for many affiliates, the biggest sales time of the year and a lot of effort in the first part of the year now pays off. To make Christmas a little more fun/fruitful/profitable, many merchants will be running incentives I imagine a lot will be going on a the lack of incentives through the year may allow for a bigger incentive pot now. Add on the fact that we are still in a recession (or out but not by much) and that VAT hike in January (deja vu), retailers will be keen to boost sales.

So who's going to kick off the Christmas incentives list first then? That would be Buyagift, and they need your help to choose a perfect incentive. More

01/04/10 - Thank You DFDS Seaways For Spotify Premium!

DFDS Seaways ran a competition a while back offering one lucky winner to win a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound5 system worth £4,500. Every sale would get an entry into the competition and one lucky winner (Quidco) would scoop the prize.

Knowing that not all affiliates are a) going to be able to generate sales and b) promoting the brand right now, they also offered 10 runner up prizes of 12 month Spotify Premium subscriptions. To qualify for the prize draw for these, you would either need to make 1 sale if you didn't make a sale in 2009 or write a piece about DFDS Seaways (which is the route I took).

Roll on a few weeks and I'm now the proud listener to ad-free streaming music! I'm an avid Spotify listener too stingy to pay for the ad-free privileged so this is very much welcomed! More

16/03/10 - Many thanks to LEGO (again!)

Many thanks once again to LEGO who sent through 3 boxes of LEGO as a prize in a competition. I was a third place winner in the banner competition. All affiliates had to do was update their creative which in all fairness is a routine task for many. More

23/02/10 - Thanks LEGO For Hours of Fun!

Many thanks to LEGO who delivered what has to be one of the best sets currently available, set 10196; the LEGO Grand Carousel. It's my prize for their Christmas 2009 competition! More

11/02/10 - Thanks To Red Letter Days

This was announced back in January but it was finally booked yesterday so here's the public thanks!

Many thanks to Red Letter Days who are sending me and wifey for a romantic weekend break to Venice. More

23/12/09 - Thank You Virginia Hayward!

It's no secret that at this time of year, there are a good few merchants who like to share the festive joy. They run fun competitions such as the Affiliate Window Christmas Challenges, which offer a break from the norm and invite affiliates to partake in festive frivolities.

As with such competitions you have to be in it to win it. This was also true of the Virginia Hayward competition I blogged about a while back. All you had to to was write a review to be entered into the competition. How easy was that? As an affiliate and customer of theirs, writing about them was a piece of cake.

The upshot is I won and took delivery of a rather nice looking (heavy) box this morning. More

17/12/09 - Thank You Affiliate Window For Loads Of Posh Chocs!

Many thanks to the team at Affiliate Window who sent a posh Hotel Chocolate hamper to me today.

We (wifey and me) have not had the fortune to try Hotel Chocolat chocolates before although we have found ourselves meandering around one or two of their posh chocolate shops. Having a hamper of the stuff means we can indulge this Christmas :-) More

15/12/09 - Thanks Paid On Results For My Christmas Card

A bit belated but a thank you nevertheless to Paid On Results who sent through my first affiliate network Christmas card of 2009!

Christmas is just a few weeks away now. Not sure about you but it's not feeling all that festive over here. Perhaps it's the recession :-) More

25/11/09 - Win a Christmas Hamper Affiliate Competition

It's Christmas and that means loads of merchants are topping up the big earner's range of festive gifts (ahem, also known as sales based incentives). For us little folk, there are a range of competitions perfect for us as they involve more creative ways of winning a little extra this Christmas. one that caught my eye yesterday was the Virginia Hayward Hampers incentive. More

12/11/09 - Thanks to Swarovski

I switched my Swarovski links over to Affiliate Window when the program was launched there and as part of the launch there was a competition.

Sadly I didn't win the performance based competition (probably a good thing for Swarovski!) but did manage to scoop a prize in the generate-a-sale-and-get-an-entry prize draw. More

25/09/09 - Thanks Sainsbury's (Again!)

As part of the Sainsbury's launch incentive, they offered a £10 voucher to anyone who generated at least 1 sale in the launch period.

Well I managed to generate a sale and so was in line for a £10 voucher. More

03/09/09 - Thanks Sainsbury's For The Birthday Present

It's a closely guarded secret by my birthday is just around the corner and happened to (nearly) coincide with a delivery from Sainsbury's. You may recall the launch of the programme on Affiliate Window I blogged about here.

To racap, as part of the launch there were three competitions. The easiest was simply to promote Sainsbury's some how. Faster than you could say "there's a freebie in it for you", I added affiliate links to my site and blogged about their offerings. To my surprise, I was the first to claim a prize and had the staggering chart to choose from:

I opted for the Morphy Richards Fastbake Cooltouch Breadmaker which arrived today. More

13/03/09 - Thanks ShinyShack.com For A Million Pounds

Thanks to the very kind folk over at ShinyShack for not only sending over a box of tricks but officially being the first freebie of the year :-P

Here's what they sent through: More

22/12/08 - Was It You?

Okay, hands up - who was it?

The postie delivered a copy of NUFC.Com Toon Diary 2009 (Spiral-bound) care of Amazon as a gift. It came in a nicely wrapped package with a gift tag that simply read "canny bag of tudor". More

19/12/08 - Thanks (Again) Affiliate Window

The Raffle Bonanza "draw to end all draws" has been revealed. It was delayed from 2.30pm to 4pm yesterday, then to 10am this morning.

The video claims that over the last 8 weeks, £17,000 worth of prizes have been given away to a lucky 117 people. The prizes were certainly worth winning, with my favourite being a 46" LCD TV. Unfortunately, it wasn't destined for my living room.

Fast forward to the "draw to end all draws" results and I scooped a prize.... More

18/12/08 - Thanks To My Favourite Affiliate Network 2008

If the industry can have it's own awards, so can I :-D

I only have one award to give and it's on the back of the fact that Affiliate Window just sent a very posh looking case of wine and champagne over to Fiske Towers as a Christmas present. It was certainly an unexpected gift and I am very grateful to those concerned who arranged this.

This year was starting to look very similar to last year where I felt neglected but alas, Awin have saved the day and is the only network this year to acknowledge me and thank me for my work. And for that, I am extremely grateful. More

09/12/08 - What's The Matter?

A while back I got wind of something called the Matter box. As a freebie, I never expected to get anything. I didn't... up until a few days ago when I received an email saying mine would be delivered on Saturday. It was but I was out (typical) so it was redelivered today.

Matter is a Royal Mail venture which is certainly a great concept. In a nutshell, it's a box of goodies / samples designed to increase brand awareness and get people buying the products featured.

Furthermore, it's been designed to fit through the majority (I'm the exception to the rule) of letterboxes. More

08/12/08 - Thanks To Affiliate Window & Chocolate Trading Co

Eagle eyed spotters watching the Affiliate Bonanza results video on Affiliate Window will have noticed the competition for 5 quick emailers to win a mystery prize. At 10pm I thought I would have been too late but alas, I was one of the lucky few.

The mystery prize? It was a "Fun & Funky Chocolate Box" from Chocolate Trading Co worth £26.99.

Here's what's inside: More

24/11/08 - Merry Christmas From Swarovski

Think of exquisite crystal and think of Swarovski. Many an hour can be spent in the high street shops admiring the glistening and sparkling crystal.

To kick start this year's list (wasn't a list last year) of Christmas presents, Swarovski have kindly sent me their 2008 Christmas Ornament. Each year they release a star shaped ornament. It was certainly a nice surprise to see this, and a letter of thanks and gratitude, land on the doorstep. More

24/10/08 - Red Letter Days Understands How To Incentivise Properly

Christmas is just around the corner and so the incentives list gets rolled out. They are usually aimed towards the big boys who convert with larger volumes than the majority of us smaller affiliates.

This year Red Letter Days has taken the proverbial bull by it's horns and are offering incentives to virtually all it's affiliates.

Here's how it works: More

11/09/08 - When On A Research Holiday, Take Some Photos

I did! I took some video clips too. The problem is, I was looking at the obvious things. I took the obligatory photos and videos of the hotel rooms and attractions. We went on an Orlando helicopter tour and took photos and video clips of this.

But I forgot one major thing - to take photos of the other bits and bobs. Things like shopping malls, restaurants, etc. 'm currently updating my Orlando site and now struggling to find pictures for the restaurants we visited.

So if you are reading Tania, get some pics of things that may seem dull at the time during your trip as they'll come in handy later on.

Anyhoo, here's some of the more wacky pictures we took whilst away. More

08/09/08 - Public Thanks To Sunshine

I would like to publicly thank Chris Clarkson and the rest of Sunshine for my familiarisation trip (aka holiday) to Orlando.

We had a great time and jammed as much as we possibly could do into our 7 night holiday. We met a wide range of people from those that couldn't do enough to those that we'd like to quickly forget ;-)

We had a couple of problems whilst away although these are probably experienced by a lot of travellers. More

24/07/08 - Incentives That Incentivise

Last month I wrote that gift vouchers were a fine and dandy way to incentivise me. They still are, but not everyone is motivated by vouchers.

Following Sunshine's incentive that is sending me off to Orlando Florida, I thought it would be quite apt to write about what ranks highly in my overall incentives list, given unlimited merchant capital and love! More

11/07/08 - I'm Off To Orlando!

Enternal thanks to Chris who's whisking me (and 'tother half I hope ;-) ) to Orlando Florida! Sunshine has been running a competition for a while which closed today. I didn't win; Tania and her Fuerteventura holiday site won. Congrats to her.

I've spent the morning doing some work. I then logged onto A4U to find an message from Chris. I messaged him and he asked if I'd heard the news. "What news?" I said. He send me a link to http://www.sunshine.co.uk/affiliates/blog/2008-07-11/sunshinecouk-fam-trip-winners/

As a reward for hard work and a fair bit of effort, Chris is sending me on my trip to sunny Orlando! More

24/06/08 - My Sunshine.co.uk Competition Entry

First off, congratulations to Sunshine on offering one of the best affiliate prizes I've ever heard of. Hats off to the team.

I've got a brand new passport just waiting to be used! Having never been abroad with my fiancée, I see this competition as a good attempt to!

The destination I've chosen is Orlando in Florida to supplement the content on Orlando Florida Holiday, a site I've created in around 2 weeks from scratch purposefully for this competition. Here's my itinerary: More

11/06/08 - Thanks To Screwfix and Affiliate Window!
