Okay, not the best thing to mention now but Christmas is fast approaching. What has this got to do with affiliate marketing and why now?
Well it's time for content and SEO affiliates to start making a move on their Christmas content. More
I don't want to disclose the domain name but I've got a site with a PageRank of 2. Big whoop you say?
When I say site I mean holding page! I was suprised when Google awarded it a PR1 a while back given it's got no external links, no Google sitemap and no other contact with the world. More
A while ago, there was a push on unique content. Then, keywords became more important. Not only should you write unique content but you should include an array of relevant keywords.
Spammers took this too far and the amount of Made For Adsense sites with poor quality, keyword stuffed articles exploded.
I thought we had moved on from keyword spamming but alas, we have not. More
Oh what a wonderful morning....!
Just checked my sites and I've had plenty of good PageRank changes. More
Here's a dilemma that gets banded around the interweb on a fairly regular basis: which is better - one large but fairly broad website or many small niche websites?
Here's my take on things. More
I've just noticed Lingerie Helper jump from PageRank 0 to PageRank 3. Make Us Happy has also jumped, but from 0 to 2.
DBFCS has jumped a point whereas Compare Sat Nav and David Fiske have stayed the same. More
Love Honey have recently added themselves to the books of Affiliate Future.
Go to Love Honey (warning: adult content) and at the bottom you'll find a link called Adult Sex Toys. More
In a Harry Hill style - FIGHT!
But which is better - SEO or PPC? More
To measure my progress, I will need a base level - a benchmark to measure all other successes by.
The money and conversions are easy. I started with nothing. However, the SEO side of things requires a bit more planning.
It should be noted that how the figures are calculated is not important - it is consistency that is. If I measure Google links this week, and then Yahoo next, there is no consistency and my results will be volatile. More
I have reached the chapters in the Search Engine Optimization: An Hour a Day book where I can start implementing some SEO tactics.
I will try to divulge as much as possible but when it comes to keyword selection and optimisation, I will not be able to publish this information here. The reason is that it will then pit www.davidfiske.com against www.comparesatnav.co.uk which is not in my best interests.
It is for that reason I advise you invest in a copy of Search Engine Optimization: An Hour a Day. It starts off slow but it is packed full of useful information in sections 2 and 3.
Anyway, here is what I have done so far. More
I am not sure if you have ever come across Wordtracker before but I have used it once before.
It consists of comprehensive databases of search terms. That is it.
However, the real power is what can be done with those keywords. More
You may remember I said that I had ordered two new books: Search Engine Optimization: An Hour a Day and Web Copy That Sells: The Revolutionary Formula for Creating Killer Copy Every Time.
They have arrived in all their glory! More
It is now the end of a very exciting week. Compare Sat Nav has been developed and despite not yet having all the web feeds installed and not all the content I want, it is presentable to the public.
So what happens next? More
I have just taken a look at DBFCS and realised I have forgotten to create a sitemap for existing content.
Seeing as I have two price comparison script already on there (UK Price Comparison Search and Gift Finder)with over 100,000 products, that is quite a few URL's that could be added!
The best way to generate a sitemap is by using Audit My PC's free online tool.
This produces an XML sitemap that you can save to your computer and then upload to your server. More
