According to Wikipedia:

Alexa Internet is California-based subsidiary company of Amazon.com. Its website is best known for providing information on the web traffic to sites in its index. Its premises are in Building 37 of the Presidio of San Francisco.

Alexa basically tracks your website in relation to an index it holds. It can provide statistics such as exposure and popularity.

I would advise you take a look at Alexa and check your site to see if it is listed there. If it is, it could help to expose your site to more traffic if the search engines pick up on your Alexa listing.

As with all statistics, take all statistics with a pinch of salt unless you can guarantee they are 100% accurate. A good tool nevertheless!
