How Much Is Your Blog or Website Worth?

Not so much to do with Compare Sat Nav - OK, nothing to do with it!

Have you ever wondered how much your website is worth?

Blogs

If you run a blog, there are a few tools that you may be interested in.

How Much Is Your Blog Worth is a script hosted over at Business Opportunities. Using the Technorati API, it calculates how many people link to you and an overall 'value' of your blog.

Mine is currently $1,693.62. Okay, so I am no millionaire (yet) but perhaps in a year I could be close!

Oh yes, and just because it says my site is worth over £500, it does not mean anyone would want to pay that, or that I would accept that!

Just as an indication, the Boing Boing blog is currently worth $11,269,347.48 and Paul Boag's blog (boagworld) is worth $137,747.76.

If you have yet to discover services like Technorati and Digg, get registered with them and start promoting your blog or website. They are great tools to get your site noticed.

Another tool is Blog Juice. It calculates your blog's popularity using several API's and gives you the result out of 10. I am currently 0.2. I prefer the money value though!

Websites

Okay, but what if you don't run a blog?

There are a few tools to calculate the value of a website.

Sootle can calculate the value of your site using Yahoo API. Compare Sat Nav's value is currently $51

Again, let's compare! DBFCS is worth $446 and Microsoft is worth $9,832,263. Let's take a previous employer! The Rhys Davies Freight Logistics website is currently worth $93.

Fun but not completely accurate as it only uses backlinks as a guide.

Another website from Sootle is Link Pimp. Are You a Pimp Wimp or a Pimp King?!

Naturally, this is all hypothetical and is based purely on back links.

Seek expert advice before you sell your blog or website based on these figures. It could be worth significantly more (or less for that matter!).
