This website has no logo. Well, that is not strictly true.
The pink jigsaw is more or less the logo. Why is it a missing jigsaw piece and why is it pink?
I think the pink works well alongside grey and white. There are loads of blue and green sites but very few pink. Plus bright pink is memorable. I don't think you can forget this site quickly.
The missing jigsaw piece is supposed to represent "putting it all together". This website is hopefully the mechanism for putting all your efforts together and creating a site.
So what about Compare Sat Nav then? What should the logo look like?
I could have a plain simple logo but it doesn't look great:

I would like a simple colour scheme. Satellite Navigation is related to driving. So we can use greens and blues safely (grass and sky).
Other colours that work well together are orange and grey. Various shades of grey seems to work well with most bright colours.
I think various shades of blue would work best to create a professional image. But blue is boring! Purple is not to far off. Perhaps a bright purple?

OK, now for the font. It needs to be something quite thin. Modern looking.

The wording needs to be looked at now. Whilst the site is called Compare Sat Nav, I think the logo should read "Compare Satellite Navigation Systems". The logo above looks odd.

This looks much better. I have also changed the colour of "Satellite Navigation Systems" and font of "Compare". Now though, I am not so sure about the purple.
I think it will change colour by then but the text will stay the same.
There are some design principles I have used here.
No pictures have been used. I want people to remember the site but I want them to be more interested in what is being offered. It the site is black and white but the logo is red, visitors look at the red. I want them to look at the products on sale! However, I do want them to return so there is a trade-off here.
The word "Compare" is in colour, bold and capitals. A good logo uses contrast - either in colours, in font faces, in font type or by using all of these. The contrast is the lower case, black "Satellite Navigation Systems". It is also more compressed than "Compare" and it is in a different font.
Here are some more logos I could have used:

Expect the colour to change!
