It has cost me just under a tenner from 1&1 for a year which is reasonable. I am trying to stick with just a few domain registrars and web hosts (namely Supanames and 1&1) to keep the bills under control.

Life is so much easier when you pay two companies instead of ten or twenty.

So why Supanames and 1&1?

I have always bought web hosting from Supanames as they are cheap and reliable. When I have emailed technical support, I usually get a response within 24 hours - often much sooner (2 to 3 hours).

There are certain restrictions on certain packages but I have managed to do everything I have ever needed to using them. Besides, they are now partnered with 123-Reg. I recently spoke to someone who has always used them and swears by them too.

1&1 is a relatively new supplier for me. I have always bought forwarding domain names from another company but at £9.99 a year, I thought that it was uncompetitive. Enter 1&1 who sell domains for a fiver for 2 years for UK names. I can buy 2 domains at 1&1 for the one I could have got with the old supplier.

Anyway, as I said, the new name should be live in 24 hours though I don't suppose it would get a lot of traffic. You never know though!
