I have stumbled upon my first problem.

I am using some price comparison software but it has n inherent security so I need password protection enabled on my server.

So, rather than pay £10 just for this, I have chosen to host it over at DBFCS. All the rest of the site at www.comparesatnav.co.uk will stay put.

So what will this mean?

Well DBFCS currently has a Google Pagerank of 2 (using the Google Toolbar).

This means that the price comparison element can benefit from this, especially if I start my link building from DBFCS.

Another benefit is that DBFCS has an error page. If you visit http://dbfcs.co.uk/thisdoesnotwork you will see that it redirects to a generic price comparison page. It does not look fancy but it works. So, for a period of time, I could change this to redirect to the Sat Nav Price Comparison.

There is a downside though. That is that users essentially leave the site to compare prices. However, the price comparison will use exactly the same skin as the main website and so all the user would see is the change of address in the address bar.

This may also have an effect on search engine ratings though it may not be as problematic as I perceive it to be!
