A Change In Tactics

Computer Chooser is up and running and as of next week, will benefit from at least one day a week of full devotion.

It has also managed to get into Google in less than 3 days which is good going!

I have added Google AdSense to Computer Chooser and the advertisements that appear s far are promising.

I have had around a third of the total number of advertisers come back and A-OK the site but I need the other two thirds to come back soon. As with most sites I build, I am using Tradedoubler as the main affiliate source.

So as it stands, Computer Chooser is going OK. I expect it to be many weeks before meaningful search results appear and the same amount of time before commission is earned. The way Compare Sat Nav has gone, I have lowered my expectations. Underestimate traffic and revenue to have more meaningful calculations.

As for Compare Sat Nav, I am going to add Kelkoo adverts on it. There are several reasons for this.

Firstly, 99.75% of traffic come onto the site and leave without making a purchase. They leave and go elsewhere. Why not catch them on the way out and 'encourage' them t click on the Kelkoo adverts instead. Some money is better than no money.

Another reason is that Kelkoo complements what I am already doing.

The Kelkoo ads will be descretley tucked away at the bottom of the page so it will only catch the attention of people not concerned by the prices on the page (i.e. the people who may not yet be ready to purchase).

Another feature on the Compare Sat Nav site will be reviews, or more specifically 'write-ups' of all the satellite navigation systems on Compare Sat Nav. At the moment, most people land on the site through the sitemap page which is not where I intended them to land!

If I have a write up of every sat nav system and then link this to the equivalent price comparison page, I create around 100 landing pages. This information needn't be long, just SEO keyworded and well copywritten, similar to the theory behind Computer Chooser.

Yes, I could outsource all my copywriting but I am not at the stage where I could a) afford to and b) trust someone to write good quality SEO keyworded copy.

By the end of this week, the real estate site should be up and running, though I am struggling with what to put on it. Is it feasible to write 1,000 articles on equity release mortgages (whatever they are!)?
