Computer Chooser Launched

The first of my two new sites (Computer Chooser) is now available at http://www.computerchooser.co.uk

As promised, I will now reveal what I have in mind for it and why I chose to built a site about computers.

Firstly, I have always been into computers (or at least as long as I have been using them). I am not a hardcore computer 'geek' in the sense that I do not know everything there is to know about them. I do not know the differences in front side buses and nor do the majority of computer users.

However, I do know a lot about computers, and I do know a lot about specifying computers for people (and indeed building them).

I could set up a website of specifications but I am not sure how many people would visit. So I came up with a site that reviews PCs and laptops that are on sale at the moment. The more reviews I write, the more landing pages I have.

This is only one side of it though. I am going to create a sales adviser (linked to from every page) and become a virtual salesman!

By now, you probably have guessed that there is affiliate revenue in computer sales but rather than just give the visitors too many options (or conversely, not enough), I will hold their hand and walk them down a comfortable path.

Commission is around £50 for a £1,000 system which is significantly more than a sat nav sale (average commission of £2.50).

I am targeting the "I'm looking for a new computer" market and would like the sales adviser to become the main feature of the site. The articles provide SEO friendly landing pages for the site.

In all fairness, I will need a lot of articles. I can manage 10 in a day or more if I really put every effort into it. Allocating 2 days a week to it will generate 1,000 pages of content a year.

So how much money do I think this will generate? Probably very little to begin with but with a lot of content, it can generate healthy returns. I would expect in a year to generate more revenue from Computer Chooser than Compare Sat Nav but I would expect to get more sales through Compare Sat Nav.
