Entering the Property Market

I have decided upon the second and third site to be added to my humble empire.

The choices go against my own advice of choosing niches but hopefully I can pull this off.

Price comparison works for CSN but it requires a manual update every Monday. It is imperative that this update is made otherwise my prices start falling out of sync with the real world.

So the two new sites will primarily consist of static content.

I am considering running these two new sites using blog software. This has the benefit of being easy to add new content. Adding new lectures to www.davidfiske.com is no more difficult than typing an email.

Naturally, if you have been following my progress so far, my thoughts sometimes get altered so I may end up with a completely different solution!

So what are the two sites?

The first is going to be a health related website. It is going to cater for a small niche of dieters and due to the nature of the content, should be reasonably static in demand. I would expect a slight upturn between January and April each year.

Why have I chosen this? I have no knowledge in this market though do know of several affiliate programs that would suit this ideally. Plus, it has practical benefits for myself. Essentially, I will be building a site for my own knowledge and understanding, but opening it up to everyone.

The target audience will be UK residents aged 18 plus. As for keyword research, I have conducted no research whatsoever. Not the best policy but the way I look at it, when I come to use Wordtracker for my keyword analysis, I can find niches then.

Compare Sat Nav was concocted after keyword research and is certainly a niche. I thought I might as well try a hit and miss approach!

As for the second site (also without research), I am moving into property! Whilst I do not have the money to buy a property and become a property developer, I do have the £30 required to write about it. Again, there will be a twist which I will share with you in a future lecture.

As before with Compare Sat Nav, my domain name will be based loosely around the market I am targeting. However, unlike Compare Sat Nav, I will not use the words compare, review, report, etc. so as to keep the redevelopment possibilities generic.

At the end of the day, there is no point in buying a constraining domain name for an uncertain project. I have been stung in the past when I had an idea, it flopped and then I couldn't use the domain again as it doesn't fit anything else.

In the next lecture, I will discuss the names I have invested in.
