Self Employed Mortgages

I'm turning the tables a bit and asking a question - where's the best place to go to get a self-certified mortgage?

As I'm self employed, I am finding it difficult to find mortgage providers who will offer me a mortgage.

Surely I'm not the first self employed affiliate who needs to get a mortgage and I'm not going to be the last.

So if other's can do it, why am I finding it so hard!

Are there mortgage brokers out there that specialise in self-employed mortgages?

Am I better off applying to the likes of Bradford and Bingley, The Principality, HSBC (to name a few) direct or should I be looking at going through a broker?

Please post your suggestions below.

Is it possible to get a self employed self certification mortgage or will it result in this?!

I can only imagine that going to a decent mortgage advisor is the best course of action.

Advisors who are familiar with the full range of lenders usually know who will be the most straight forward and hassle free for your circumstances.

I did a self cert mortgage last year - just had to provide details of how long I had traded. Lender phoned up my accountant to confirm that I was telling the truth about how long I had traded (they didn't enquire about earnings or anything like that, just that I had traded for as long as I said) and that was that.

Your best to go through a broker, and for a self cert you really need to be putting down 25% of the property value. Try http://www.mortgagemeadow.com they sorted mine out, deal was much better than direct with the lender.
