Did you know that if you post a comment on this website, Google will follow it as I do not use the nofollow tag?
Some blogs (predominantly Wordpress) use nofollow rules by default which means you won't get fair recognition by the search engines for your comment.
On my site you will!
This does cause some problems. For example, I have had to install some spam filters. One checks whether you are human by asking you a simple maths question. The second means I have to approve all comments before they appear.
On a positive note though, I can keep up to date with what people are saying about my work.
So, post a comment. It can be on any post old or new!

@mlankton - I have an automatic filter to weed out spam, plus a maths filter to weed out bots. Then I moderate what's left. Moderation is a case of clicking yes or no, so it takes no time at all. The benefit of not using nofollow is that it encourages people to supply useful contributions, knowing that they will benefit from a free backlink just by leaving a comment.

Now that you've been dofollow for a while, has the increase in traffic and comments been worth the time spent moderating?
