Hats off to Kieron Donoghue who is running a competition for his online bingo website www.bingo.org.uk
 
He is offering a brand new boxed sim-free Sony Ericsson P990i Smartphone to one lucky person who reviews his bingo website.

So long as Kieron gets a fair amount of backlinks, ÂŁ350 (the cost of the phone) is a relatively small price to pay for such publicity.

This competition ends on Tuesday 10th July 2007 and is open to any website or blog owner, though Kieron has stated he would prefer UK website owners to enter as he isn’t sure whether the phone works overseas.

This concept of generating backlinks is not new but it is a great method of link building. I usually only link to sites whereby I benefit (e.g. a backlink) but the possibility of winning a prize would encourage me to link to the respective site (in this case Kieron’s bingo website) without expecting a return link.

Personally, I would like to see this practise increased though if I was the one giving the prize, I would want to make sure enough backlinks would be generated.

Anyhow, good luck Kieron and hopefully you will post how many backlinks this competition generated for you!
