Occasionally a good rant helps you calm down! Today's victim is Royal Mail.
The story needs some background so here we go.
I've recently been having problems. My postbox is on the outside of my home.
A month ago, I got a "We Tried To Deliver..." (WTTD) card for a parcel. It was a Recorded Delivery and in all fairness I was out. So, a trundle down to the delivery office and I picked it up.
The next day, I was in but got another WTTD. No knock by the postman. He carded me and left. By the time I found the card, he was well away. I telephoned Royal Mail customer services and vented my annoyance.
If I wasn't in, fair enough. Card me and I'll arrange for a collection. But I was in. That's the nature of working from home. Add insult to injury, I work in a room facing the front of the house. So I can see when the postie comes and goes. But on this occasion he was very quick!
I was given a case reference and the next day, I had a knock at the door. All good and well.
Last week, I had no post all week and I was expecting a handful of items. Again, a little bemusing but I rang Royal mail again explaining I suspected I was a victim of Irregular Delivery. Half an hour later and a postvan pulled up outside and about 10 letters and packages, some dating back around 3 weeks earlier!
Today takes the biscuit when I see the van pull up, go to check my post and find a WTTD card! Arghhh!
Luckily, I sprinted after the postie who turned around and said "You're not usually in are you?". Given the fact that he's not the regular postman, how does he know?!
Although I now have me packages, I still felt the need to phone Royal Mail who have escalated my complaint to another team! Apparently it will not happen again but we will see. All I can do is keep ringing and collecting complaint ticket numbers. Eventually somebody will listen. Hopefully!
Unfortunately couriers aren't exempt.
Top marks genuinely go to City Link who delivered a parcel a few weeks ago. The driver couldn't find the place but after a phone call to me, he arrived at the doorstep.
The Royal Mail prize goes to Home Delivery Network who left a parcel at my door without knocking. Not good practise but I suppose it's better than not having a parcel delivered. What made this worse is the large hole in the side where it had been thrown around. Thank goodness for bubble wrap!
Rant over!
