Monday, 27 August 2007
I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed a drop in sales but I have and I'm blaming the Summer. What with people jetting off to Benidorm or simply lounging out in that rare thing we call sun, there are less people flexing their credit cards.
I suppose that some of my sites are seasonal and Summer for me is a low point for these sites.
Compare Sat Nav is busiest from September through to about April what with people buying Christmas presents or systems ready for their holidays.
Lingerie Helper is very much seasonal with the peak being November through to around June where people are either buying gifts or they are getting ready for Summer.
What I need therefore is something that keeps going throughout the summer. Even better is a site that earns 24/7/365 with no seasonality.
As far as I'm concerned though, most shopping sites are seasonal. Gardening sites boom in Summer. Electricals boom in Winter. Nostalgic confectionery booms around gift giving times as does chocolate sales.
So I need something that isn't seasonal and isn't shopping based.
So how do I monetise such a site? A reviews site is based around shopping. A freebie or discount voucher sites is ultimately based around shopping (and that's saturated anyway).
Yikes this is difficult! If anyone wishes to suggest a genre of sites, please post a comment below. Meanwhile I'll be scouring the affiliate network sites thinking of an ingenious website idea - or I'll be out in the sun, one or the other!
(PS - Thanks to Girls Aloud for the title!)

Freebies make me work harder! If you send it, I'll blog about it - unless it's rude :-)
