Want a Wii For Christmas?

You can have the world's most expensive Wii for Christmas though it'll set you back £5,000,100.00, and there's still 9 hours let to go!

Most expensive Wii

This is a '5 minutes of fame' auction but take a look at how much this is going to kick the seller if eBay bill him before he can claim an unpaid item strike!

Listing fees would have been a couple of quid. That's why it's up there - it doesn't matter if it doesn't sell.

Currently, this is how eBay calculates closing fees for technology listings:

5.25% of the initial £29.99 (£1.57)
plus 3.00% of the initial £30.00 - £99.99 (£2.10)
plus 2.50% of the initial £100.00 - £199.99 (£2.50)
plus 2.00% of the initial £200.00 - £299.99 (£2.00)
plus 1.50% of the initial £300.00 - £599.99 (£4.50)
plus 1.00% of the remaining closing value balance - £4,999,500.01 (£49,995.01)

In 9 hours time, the seller will be hit with £50,007.68 of fees. Ouch!

The chances are that this won't sell as it's gone beyond 'reasonable' but that won't stop eBay claiming their fair share.

The seller has foolishly listed it as accepting PayPal. D'oh.

Their fees are much simpler than eBay's. The good news is that the seller has automatically been upgraded to the cheaper processing band at 2.9% + £0.20 GBP rather than the standard 3.4% + £0.20 GBP.

So, this would cost £145,003.10! Let's hope he persuades the buyer to pay using a bank transfer!

If you're bidding on this, good luck! Perhaps money down the drain though - but needs must.

It closed on £10 million so doubler all the above figures.

It was won by a bidder who hasn't bought anything in the last 6 months so I doubt this will be paid for :-)
