I've spent weeks hand crafting a new site. It's not live yet and the FTP server's playing the giddy goat which is why I am posting on here!
Anyhow, I've just found another site with near enough the exact same principle and topic as mine. It was only by luck I stumbled across it.
That means it's back to the drawing board to change the idea somewhat to avoid being hypocritical.
Luckily, the site hasn't been launched yet so there's time to make tweaks and so forth.
I did consider selling the domains - a sort of drop and run tactic. I have the .co.uk and .com domains so both may well prove more lucrative and of more use to another affiliate.
But selling domains isn't my forte. Perhaps one day...

Thanks Chris. Valuable advice from a successful figure in the affiliate industry.
I don't think I'll abandon the site. I'll probably take a break from it for a week or so and come back with a fresh view and some new key selling points.
As I've built the site from the ground up, it's heavily optimised so my problem isn't so much outranking the other site, it's just by fate we've gone for identical features!

Freebies make me work harder! If you send it, I'll blog about it - unless it's rude :-)

I wouldn't abandon the idea altogether. IF you stumbled across it this far down the line, it can't be very well SEO'd if it's not showing for the key phrases I imagine you researched.
Why not look at it as an opportunity to do it better then the other site.
