You are here: Home > Website Traffic > Post Less To Get More RSS Subscribers
Tuesday, 19 August 2008
Okay, perhaps that's not strictly speaking true as I think there's certainly a "content quality" issue content to consider as well.
But since I started working elsewhere and posting less here (but more informative posts than observational posts), my subscriber list has doubled - and I've broken the first 100 barrier.
Okay, so 100 people regularly reading via RSS isn't a lot but it seems to prove that if you write keeping your blog focussed on a particular subject, you'll benefit because of it, even if that does mean posting less.
Given that this website makes zero income, it makes business sense to mothball it but it seems to help some people which is my secondary aim. My main aim is to use it as a public notepad, clearing my brain of thoughts and ideas, hopefully creating debate, discussion and interest.
I'm going to continue like this for a while as I think it benefits everyone - less irrelevant posts, less time wasted by both parties and more targeted content.
If there's anything you'd like to see on here, comment below. I've asked before and got zero comments so hopefully 1 of my 100 'followers' will comment ;-)

@Tania - Many thanks for your comment - I knew one reader would comment ;-)
This blog makes zero income. The price counter is a list of freebies and incentives from my affiliate activities more so than blogging here.
Thanks for the suggestions on future articles. I'll certainly look into the above suggestion as a basis for a site and as a tutorial.
I'm keen to develop a definition for this site. Kirsty McCubbin's blog is a great place for affiliate newbies and affiliate Q&A's. Mike Madew's blog is great for finance PPC affiliates. Perhaps my "area" should be on the more technical side of things.
Any other readers agree with this?

Freebies make me work harder! If you send it, I'll blog about it - unless it's rude :-)

Hi David .. zero income? thats a bit harsh on yourself. Your prize counter (assuming prizes, as opposed to incentive bonuses, are tax free) has got to be worth the equivalent of making at least £50,000 of sales at 6% for a start.
Anyway, I would like to see more about coding and how to create your own bits of functionality. You always seem to have something a little bit different on your sites, like the google maps on the Orlando site and enhancements to the Price Tapestry script.
And then you come out with nifty ideas like this ..
"How about a meal planner? You select 7 recipes from the site and it will produce a PDF download with recipe instructions. On top of that, it will produce a shopping list and take you over to the Tesco home delivery site. These techy solutions are not that complex." which would be fantastic with a bit of a tutorial or a tip on where to start learning or understanding whats involved.
Regardless, you're open and you keep it real by sharing the trials and the successes .. would be a shame to mothball that.
