David Fiske Affiliate marketing & web development musings from Fiske Towers

Phew, the last few days have been hectic! I've been adding content to a few sites as part of my new-found business targets as well as trying to muster up enough energy to set up the last few domains in my portfolio ready for Christmas.

So why is the content taking up so much time?
 
I Write My Own Content

I'm sure I could outsource my content writing but I'm time-rich cash-poor rather than the cash-rich time-poor people who generally look towards third party content. Besides, I can't name any decent content writers that I've come across that I'd be happy to splash some cash with.

So by writing my own content, I also have the following issues:

Each theme needs researching

I need to be writing about stuff a) my visitors are interested in and b) stuff that I can sell via affiliate links. I'd be wasting my time writing about dog collars (for pets) on a grocery shopping website for instance.

Each article needs researching

Once I've determined what's worth spending time on, I need to find suitable products to link to. This again takes time.

Speed

Overall, I'm able to get around 3 in-depth articles a day at the moment though I'm looking at getting 5 done and lining them up ready to be published daily.

If I don't post here for a while, you know where I am ;-)
