Inspired Advertising Request

Inspired by the success of the Dom Hodgson/Groupon advertising deal and the Mark Boyd/Affiliate Window advertising deal, I thought I'd try a cheeky request of my own.

In both deals, the brands got exclusive advertising deals in exchange for an iPad. It's a clever idea and I like it, so I'd thought I'd give it a go myself, given the distinct lack of any advertising on this site at present. As with affiliate marketing you stand a much better chance of success being the first to market so I don't think anything will come of this but there's no harm in trying!

What I am after

I'm looking for an Apple iPad 32GB WiFi only device to crack on with some data processing in the evenings. I am working my way (slowly at present) through around 8,000 product descriptions that need to be re-written for a couple of sites I'm working on. There's no way that is going to happen during the day which is where the iPad comes in, allowing me to work (albeit slowly) whilst sat in front of the TV at night. It's work but not as we know it!

The one problem with the iPad in it's current form is that it doesn't multi-task from the box. I would like to be able to listen to Spotify without the need for a PC and the only way to do that is with their iPod app.

So as not to carbon copy Dom and Mark, I'm also hanging out for an iPod. Cheeky? Yes. But you don't know unless you ask!

What I can offer

A shiny advert on this very website. You'll notice I don't have any other adverts or sponsors. Admittedly, this blog has made me a grand total of £0 each month since it's launch in 27th November 2006. I've concentrated on writing content rather than trying to make money from it. That's what my other sites are for (unless there's a worthwhile book or product to recommend which are few and far between).

I can offer you a 468x60 banner (jpg, gif [preferred] or Flash) at the top of every post, page, category and search results page. There's no banner space on the home page though.

I am offering one banner space on the blog to one advertiser only. The other deals last for a number of years. I'm open to offers for the length of time you believe you need for the payback period you desire. Obviously, the shorter the better but I am realistic. An iPad 32GB WiFi costs £499 and an iPod Touch 32GB third generation costs around £210 totalling £709. I'd say this works out very reasonably over 2 years - £709 over 730 days = a smidgen over 97p a day. Cheaper than decent broadband or groceries for a month ;-)

What kind of advertiser am I after?

This is an affiliate marketing blog so I have a number of key target advertisers:

  • Merchants looking to promote their affiliate program
  • Networks looking to promote their network
  • Affiliate services companies - you know, the one's who offer various services to make affiliate life that little bit easier
I'm flexible in terms of advertisers but would prefer a match to my audience. It would work out better for me, for my readers and for you, my exclusive advertiser.

What next?

Send me a quick message detailing what you would like to advertise and for how long via my (not-so) fetching contact form. I will reply in due course to everyone who sends in an offer.

End of cheeky request :-)

David,

How many people would see this advert? What is your site traffic?

@Matt Bailey - Good question. Just checking the stats now.

Nothing amazing but on average it's 2,883 unique visitors a month with 6,216 total visits a month. That equates to 18,662 page views a month on average. (2009)

2010 on average so far is 2,197 unique visitors a month with 5,669 total visits a month. There are on average 20,417 page view a month so far this year.

It's not a huge quantity but it's consistent. Let me know if you want any more stats.
